Dhempe College of Arts & Science Celebrated 71st Republic Day. The flag was hoisted by the Principal Dr.Vrinda Borker. On this Occassion, Institutions Innovation Council distributed certificates and prizes to the student participants of the event innovative ideas. Also, Honored were the few staff members who had given special lectures on reserach and innovatives ideas.

Department of Zoology organised an International webinar on “Wildlife conservation: Insight into effects of COVID 19 pandemic” on 1st and 2nd July 2020. Six eminent speakers from reputed Institutions delivered their presentations. International speakers were from Brazil and SriLanka. More than 200 participants from all over India, and few from USA and Brazil attended the webinar on google meet and YouTube streaming. YouTube overall views were more than 500. The webinar was well appreciated by the participants

Department of Zoology, DCT’s Dhempe college of Arts and Science, organised an International webinar on “Wildlife conservation: Insight into effects of COVID 19 pandemic” on 1st and 2nd July 2020. State level webinar organised by Women’s cell

Women’s cell of DCT’s Dhempe college of Arts and Science, Miramar, organised a State level Webinar, on “Women’s Health challenges and Solutions” on 14th December 2020, from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. The two guest speakers were Dr. Tanvi Poy Raiturcar, Consultant Eye Surgeon, Healthway Hospital, and Dr. Rini Ravindranath Naik, Gynaecologist, Resident doctor at Goa Medical College. More than 180 participants registered for the webinar. Around 75 attended the webinar.

Dr. Tanvi Raiturcar, enlightened the participants with the Eye related issues and how to tackle with it. She also emphasised how to maintain the health of the eye, what are the precautions to be taken during the infections and injuries to the eye. Dr. Rini Naik, spoke on the women related gynaecological issues, menstrual problems, myths, ovarian cancer, and the treatment options. The sessions were very informative and the participants attended, responded with the questions and doubts, which were addressed by the speakers.

  • Concept Note:

Principal, Prof. Vrinda Borker welcomed the gathering. Prof. S. R. Yadav, highlighted on the idea of using our strength in academics with immediate need for conservation. The presentation was intellectual treat to participants’ minds and eyes with beautiful photos depicting plant diversity.

The second session by Dr. Mandar Datar emphasized on fascinating adaption of various plants species to cope with the challenging environment of Plateaus and its floristic diversity.

Both the speakers shared their expertise in conservation of nature significantly for the success of the National Webinar. It brought together students, faculty, research scholar, teachers, administrative executives, Government employees, retired faculty, scientists from 21 States across the Country including participants from union territory (Port Blair), International participants from (Dublin) Ireland and (Camarines Norte) Philippines.

Department of Chemistry of DCT’s Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar-Goa, organized an International webinar on “Advances in Materials Chemistry and Applications” on 22nd of October, 2021.
Resource persons Prof. R. Burrow, UFSM – Brazil, Dr. R. Mishra, Purdue University – USA, & Dr. C. Manoratne, ITI – Sri Lanka presented lectures based on their research from the field of materials chemistry, property studies, and applications.

A webinar on “Intellectual Property Rights and IP management for start-up” was organised by
the Institution’s Innovation Council team members; Dr. Karuna Singh, Dr. Preethi Pandit and
Mr. Mohit Sukhtankar on 15.03.2021 at 12:00 pm in the AV room of the College. The resource
person for the program was Advocate Rejitha Rajan (LLB, LLM -IPR, PGDGC; IP attorney
and Registered patent agent, visiting Faculty).
The webinar began with the Principal’s address, followed by a brief introduction of the resource
person by Dr. Karuna Singh. The resource person, Advocate Rejitha Rajan took over the
session where she delivered a presentation covering topics such as intellectual property rights,
trademark, copyrights, patenting procedures and laws.
The webinar concluded with a question-and answer session and a vote of thanks proposed by
Dr. Preethi Pandit at 1:15pm. The total number of registered participants were 51.

National Webinar on ‘Challenging Conventional Narratives- A Gender Dialogue”

A national webinar on “Challenging Conventional Narratives- a Gender Dialogue” was organised by the Department of Political Science faculty; Dr. Karuna Singh, Mr. Mohit Sukhtankar and Ms. Divya Parmar on 11.03.2022 at 10:30 am in the Vivekananda Hall of the College. The resource speakers for the program were Prof. Bijayalakshmi Nanda, Principal, Miranda House, Delhi University, Mr. Charudutta Panigrahi and Mrs. Asha Vernekar, Development Professionals, FIDR-GLF. The webinar began with the Welcome address by Dr. Karuna Singh followed by the Principal’s keynote address. The context setting of the event was done by Ms. Divya Parmar followed by the brief introduction of the three eminent resource speakers. The resource speakers Mrs. Asha Vernekar and Mr. Charudutta Panigrahi took over the session where they delivered a presentation on gender as a social construct and as it functions today. Prof. Bijayalakshmi Nanda took over the next session deliberating on the issues around efficacy of law implementation in constantly changing contemporary legal landscape. The talks by resource speakers were followed by student presentations by Ms. Gauri Neurekar on patriarchy as root cause of gender inequality and Mr. Sameer Shaikh on the political economy of gender.

The entire session was an extremely interactive session. The webinar concluded with a question-and answer session and a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Mohit Sukhtankar at 1:30 pm. The total number of registered participants was 203.
